Our trip to the Classic Inca Trail begins early in the morning, as we will pick you up from your accommodation in Cusco between 5:00-5:30 am. From here we will head to KM 82 of the Inca Trail where our hike will begin.
The first few kilometers of hiking are relatively easy, which will ease you into the tougher parts. This gives you the opportunity to admire and appreciate the beauty of the surrounding nature, starting with incredible views of the snow-capped mountain, La Veronica, and the Urubamba River.
Later, we will arrive at the archaeological sites of Patallaqta and Willkarakay, two impressive complexes representative of the charm and art of the Andes.
We will then stop for lunch before continuing on to our first campsite, Wayllabamba. Here we will rest and enjoy a delicious dinner amidst the beautiful surroundings of Mother Nature.
Enjoy an orientation walk of Zurich’s OLD TOWN, Switzerland’s center of banking and commerce. Then, leave Zurich and start your Swiss adventure. You’ll quickly discover that Switzerland isn’t just home to the Alps, but also to some of the most beautiful lakes. First, stop at the foot of the Jura Mountains in the picturesque town of Biel, known as Bienne by French-speaking Swiss, famous for watch-making, and explore the historical center. Next, enjoy a scenic drive to lakeside Neuchâtel, dominated by the medieval cathedral and castle. Time to stroll along the lake promenade before continuing to stunning Geneva, the second-largest city in Switzerland, with its fantastic lakeside location and breathtaking panoramas of the Alps.
This is truly the most beautiful day of the entire trek, covering the farthest distance from the beginning of the jungle to the breathtaking panoramic views of Inca citadels located on remarkable mountain ranges.
After breakfast, we will begin our trek early in the morning, visiting ancient Inca cities with our expert guides. We will explore the life of the ancient inhabitants of the magical Andean cities of Runkuraqay, Sayaqmarka, Phupatamarka, Intipata and Wiñaywayna; testimony to the agricultural experimentations found along this spectacular Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Likewise, this trail is an example of the abundance of wildlife found along the Inca Trail, such as wild orchids, birds, bears, condors, pumas and much more!
The day ends in Wiñawayna where we will have dinner together and rest before another day of adventures.
This is the most awaited part of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu by all visitors! After breakfast, we resume our hike to take advantage of the cool morning and hurry a little to arrive in time for one of the greatest pleasures of this route: to appreciate the sunrise at Machu Picchu.
After an hour of walking, we will pass through the Sun Gate to Machu Picchu (Inti Punku), where it is possible to appreciate the most impressive panoramic view. We continue along the Inca trail until we reach the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu, and take the postcard photo, and then visit the main sites such as the enclosures, squares, sacred fountains, temple of the sun, the house of the Inca, the agricultural sector, urban and more. Accompanied by your guide, you will have a guided tour of approximately 3 hours to learn historical details of the culture of the Incas. Or perhaps, take pictures and experience the special atmosphere that surrounds this millenary place. Later, we will take the bus to the town of Aguas Calientes. And in the afternoon or evening, we will return to Cuzco by train. At this point, you will have enjoyed one of the classic routes of the Inka Trail in Peru that continues to amaze and gather hundreds of people from all cultures.
