The Sacred Valley VIP tour with Machu Picchu Connection combines the VIP tour to the Sacred Valley with an excursion to Machu Picchu. It is ideal for you if you want to see as many of the Sacred Valley’s attractions as possible in one day. In addition, upon arrival in Ollantaytambo you will be able to take your train to Machu Picchu Pueblo at the respective time of your ticket, and visit Machu Picchu on the second day.
We will start by visiting Chinchero, Moray and the salt mines of Maras. Then, we will enjoy a buffet lunch in the heart of the Sacred Valley and, finally, we will head to Ollantaytambo. Here we will take the train to Machu Picchu Pueblo.
Machu Picchu Pueblo is a charming little town divided by the Allcamayo and Vilcanota rivers, and is full of restaurants, handicraft stores and hotels. The advantage of staying overnight in Machu Picchu Pueblo is to be able to wake up early and be among the first to enter Machu Picchu the next day, enjoying the citadel with fewer tourists. We recommend this activity between April and September.
Hotels in the Historic Center
06:00 – 06:30 am
On this day, we will pick you up from your hotel between 6:35 am and 6:45 am to begin our tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The Sacred Valley is located at an altitude of 2790 meters above sea level and includes Chincheros, Moray, Salineras, Urubamba, Ollantaytambo and Pisac. Each of these locations houses archaeological remains built by different Incas. The Sacred Valley has great historical importance as one of the main agricultural centers, recognized for its fertile lands that produce the best corn grains today.
Our first stop will be Chinchero, a place that has preserved its traditional textile and ceramic art. Here we will stay for about 40 minutes, and visit the colonial church, known for its outstanding paintings from the 15th and 17th centuries. Then, we will visit Moray, an agricultural research center where cultivation experiments were carried out at different altitudes. Afterwards, we will explore the Maras Salt Pans, also known as the Maras Salt Pools, which consist of more than 3,000 wells of different sizes and dimensions. These wells are owned by local families who take advantage of the salt generated and treat it with iodine before selling it in the market. We will spend 30 minutes in Maras and Moray.
Continuing our journey, we will arrive in Urubamba, where we will enjoy a buffet lunch. After lunch, we will visit the town of Ollantaytambo, which dates back to the 15th century. Here we will take our train to Machu Picchu Pueblo, at the time indicated on your train ticket.
The trip from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu Pueblo takes approximately two hours. At Machu Picchu Pueblo, our representative will meet you at the train station and transfer you to the hotel. That evening, our local guide will meet you and brief you on the next day’s itinerary.
After enjoying our breakfast at the hotel, the guide will pick us up to start our tour at the indicated time of entry to Machu Picchu. We will take a bus from Machu Picchu Pueblo to the citadel of Machu Picchu. This will be a 25 minute ride up the hill.
Once at the main entrance to Machu Picchu, our guide will help you through the security checkpoint. Here, you will need to present your original passport or ID card, and your entrance ticket.
Then, we will give you a guided tour of approximately two hours through the citadel. On this tour, we will show you some of the main Inca ruins, such as the main square, the ceremonial center, the remains of temples and the cultivation terraces, among other sites.
After visiting Machu Picchu, you will take the bus back to Machu Picchu Pueblo. Then, you will board the train back to Ollantaytambo train station. Our representative will meet you here and take you back to Cusco.
