PLACES TO VISIT:
We begin our journey very early, at 3:00 a.m., heading towards Chivay, where we will enjoy breakfast before setting off on a scenic route. Along the way, we will admire stunning landscapes, pre-Inca terraces, as well as native flora and fauna, until we reach the Condor’s Cross (Cruz del Cóndor), a strategic viewpoint to observe the majesty of the Colca Canyon and witness the flight of the Andean condor (Vultur gryphus), the largest non-marine flying bird in the world, declared a cultural and natural heritage of South America.
On the way back, we will stop at the Huayra Punko viewpoint, offering a panoramic view of the valley and the pre-Inca terraces. Our next stop will be in Maca, a small and picturesque village in the region, where we will taste the traditional Colca Sour drink. We will also visit the hot springs, where you can bathe and relax in their thermo-medicinal waters.
Afterwards, we will head back to Chivay to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch featuring traditional local dishes—an ideal opportunity to try many regional specialties.
Before returning to Arequipa, we’ll make a stop at the impressive Volcanoes Viewpoint, the highest point of our journey (4,900 meters above sea level), and another stop at the Tocra wetlands to observe Andean camelids and birds such as ducks and flamingos. The final stop will be in Patahuasi to enjoy a panoramic view of Misti and Chachani volcanoes, surrounded by stone forests and curious rock formations.
We will return to the city around 5:30 p.m.
