Itinerary

DAY 1

Day 1

Reception at the airport and transfer to our office in the city of Puerto Maldonado.

(Luggage that is not needed during your stay in the rainforest can be stored in our warehouse to avoid transportation inconveniences.)

Boarding at Puerto de Capitanía heading to our lodge: a 40-minute boat ride along the Madre de Dios River. Arrival at the Corto Maltes Amazonía lodge facilities, where you will be welcomed with a refreshing drink made from seasonal fruits. Then, your guide will provide the necessary explanations for your stay and give you the keys to your bungalow. After that, you will have lunch and rest until the first excursion at 3:30 pm. Departure for your first contact with the rainforest, accompanied by your guide, who will show you the tropical trees, medicinal plants, and the lush nature of the 60-hectare concession of Corto Maltés Amazonía. You will visit a Brazil nut harvesting camp. You will also visit a rubber tapper’s camp, one of the most important economic activities in the Madre de Dios region. It is a reproduction of a real camp where you can see the traditional process of rubber collection (known as latex) used for various products.

The duration of this trekking is 2 hours.

Upon returning to the lodge, you can relax by the pool or in the hammocks on the terrace of your bungalow, enjoy an exotic cocktail at the bar, receive a relaxing massage by qualified staff, buy a souvenir from the rainforest at our craft store, or go to the river dock to watch the sunset.

At 7:00 pm, before dinner, you will take a nighttime boat ride for a fun “Caiman Safari” where, in addition to caimans, with luck, you may observe other animals that inhabit the riverbanks.

We will wake up at 5:30 am to have a cup of coffee or hot infusion before heading out for a approximately 20-minute walk to the parrot clay lick, where you can observe 3 to 5 species of parrots that come down to feed on special clay found in certain areas of this region. This clay is essential for the birds’ metabolism and is truly a wonderful and exciting colorful spectacle.

08:00 am Breakfast and free time.

After breakfast, transfer will be provided to the city of Puerto Maldonado on our boats.

At Puerto Capitanía, a vehicle will be waiting to take you to our office, and then we will proceed to the local market for a short tour with an average duration of 15 to 20 minutes, where you can see the different local products that the population relies on. After this visit, we will continue to the airport for the check-in of your respective flights.
