PLACES TO VISIT:
We will pick you up at 7:30 a.m. from your hotel in the city center. Your first stop will be at the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve (Pampa Cañahuas), where you will enjoy one of the most stunning landscapes of the Andes, featuring plains and lagoons surrounded by snow-capped mountains and volcanoes. This natural area is home to native wildlife and known for its archaeological value.
The second stop is in Patahuasi, where you will enjoy a warm Inca tea that will help you acclimatize to the altitude, along with a panoramic view of the Misti and Chachani volcanoes.
We’ll then continue to the Tocra Wetlands, irrigated by springs. This is a great opportunity to observe camelids, ducks, and Andean flamingos, as well as local muleteers.
Next, we visit the Andes Viewpoint (Pata Pampa), the highest point of the trip at 4,900 meters above sea level. From here, you will see a variety of volcanoes.
Afterwards, we descend to the town of Chivay, where you will spend the night. After lunch and rest at the hotel of your choice, we’ll regroup to visit the thermal baths of Chacapi or La Calera.
You’ll also have the option to enjoy dinner at a folkloric venue with traditional live music and dance performances.
After breakfast at your hotel, we begin the trip toward the Condor Cross (Cruz del Cóndor). On the way, we’ll visit the village of Yanque, where you’ll see its historic church and the typical Wititi dance, recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
We’ll explore the Colca Valley, admiring its agricultural terraces, native wildlife, and pre-Hispanic heritage.
Once at the Condor Cross, you’ll enjoy a strategic viewpoint to observe the majestic Colca Canyon and the flight of the Andean condor (Vultur gryphus), the largest non-marine flying bird in the world and a natural and cultural heritage of South America.
On our way back, we’ll visit the Huayra Punko Viewpoint in Pinchollo, followed by the Antahuilque Viewpoint, where you’ll see ancient agricultural models, enchanted lagoons —said to be inhabited by mermaids— and pre-Inca hanging tombs.
We then stop in Maca, a charming traditional village. Before returning to Arequipa, we’ll enjoy a buffet lunch in Chivay.
Finally, we’ll return to Arequipa, arriving around 4:00 p.m.
